My PTO clutch started giving me trouble yesterday. Haven't had a chance to troubleshoot yet but looked at the price for a new one. Do you have to buy the complete assembly or can you get just one of the 3 pieces? Is there any adjustment on the gap?

There is a free parts book on the Deere web site . If somebody went and lost the operator's manual. Call 1-800-522-7448.

Yes --- there is an air gap adjustment. The three nuts around the outside of the clutch adjust the air gap. I think the spec is 0.012". Tighten the nuts to close the gap; loosen to open the gap.

As far as I know, you buy the whole clutch --- not the pieces.

Search and you will find various "I rebuilt my clutch" threads --- some of them seem to work well. None of those techniques has ever worked for me.

Thanks....I found a downloadable service manual. I think it was my pto switch. I picked one up at the local snapper dealer.
