JD 4400 stopped dead in its tracks

/ JD 4400 stopped dead in its tracks #11
Was driving my tractor today, slowed to see if there was oncoming traffic. It stopped in its tracts and wouldn’t move. I have to lift the tractor using the loader and backhoe to get it into neutral. Range selector is hard to move and when I try to go forward or backward tractor stalls out. Towed it home slowly in Neutral but it won’t move otherwise.
Better check your hydraulic filter screens. You will have to drain the fluid. If you have not had the fluid changed lately they could be plugged up. If fluid was recently changed I would drain and check it any way. Dealers are bad for not removing and cleaning these screens when changing hydraulic fluid. Plugged screens will cause what you are describing.
