Tractor
John Deere 4400
Was driving my tractor today, slowed to see if there was oncoming traffic. It stopped in its tracts and wouldn’t move. I have to lift the tractor using the loader and backhoe to get it into neutral. Range selector is hard to move and when I try to go forward or backward tractor stalls out. Towed it home slowly in Neutral but it won’t move otherwise.

When you say stalls does the engine quit? If so I would start by checking fuel filter.

Were you in 4WD on pavement?

Is it hydrostatic or geared?

Check your hydraulic fluid level if it's hst

It’s HST. Should be good as I just got it back from the dealer. They topped up all fluids and did an engine oil change

I'd check it anyway just to make sure.

What was it in for at the dealer? That might be a clue. Maybe something was put back together loose and whatever it is came apart.

Took a car home from a dealer one time after some brake work. Got home, popped the hood to take a quick look. Saw the brake fluid cap sitting to the side. Was lucky it didn't fall out during the ride home.

Does it sounds like it is stalling out from under load or a safety circuit??? If the seat safety switch isn't playing nice it could cause it to want to stall out when trying to move. Easy test would be to check to see if the tractor wants to stall out when you engage the PTO. If it does then your culprit is most likely the seat safety switch is not working properly.

Sounds like something is wrong in the range selector area. Weird question, but if you have the range selector in neutral and step on the forward or reverse pedal, does the engine bog?

I'd check the fluid levels yourself. Trust but verify.
