My steering valve on my 455 is leaking out the top of the valve through an o-ring. I have found the removal process quite difficult, I have removed the bolts but now need to remove the hydraulic lines running into the valve. My question is probably very simple, but how do I undo these lines? I have attached some photos.

I have looked around on the net and it seems I need a tube wrench? I have grabbed onto the large metal section of the hose and twisted it with a pair of vice grips but it just made the hole metal tubing twist.

Thanks
Matt

That is not a "joint", that is part of the hose. Take a look at the picture from jdparts.

thanks guys, with a little Persuasion the hoses slipped out.

The valve is a mess, a previous owner has welded the steering shaft into the top of the valve, photo below.

BrisMatt, I have a good steering valve and steering shaft out of a 425 for sale. They should be the same? email me at mackman48@aol.com if you're interested.
