Hi,
I'm new to these forums, been a watcher for some time, this is my first post.
I purchased a new JD 5065E this summer, and I went with the 16.9-28 R-1 tire size option on the rear tires. Winter is coming, and I'll need to chain this thing up once snow falls.
Here's the question: Has anyone else here chained one of these tractors up? The fender clearance between the tire and the fender is pretty tight with the 16.9's on it, and I'm concerned it isn't enough to allow for chains.
If you've chained yours up, what style chain did you use? I'd like to use an H pattern chain so that the cross links don't fall down between the lugs on the R-1's, but I'd hate to order a set of chains and not have enough clearance for them without destroying the fenders.
Yes, I do need chains... our property is on a fairly steep grade ( I live in the N. Idaho panhandle) and when our driveway gets a bit icy, I need all the traction advantage I can get.
Any advice or help would be appreciated!
Thanks,
