2000 JD 790
I am still struggling with JD 790 vs. JD 4300 (both 4wd) purchase. The 4300 costs about $2,800. more. Use will be bush hog, cutting grass, front end loader, etc. Any comments? John

Is that list to list, because I have heard that the price leader units like the 790 carry higher cost %s than say the 4000 series, so your deal on a 4300 may be better as a % off of list. And the 790 strikes me as old style (but maybe better, who knows).

The prices are actual quoted by the local JD dealer. 12,000 for the JD 790 and 14,800 for the JD 4300 (with syncro reverser transmission). John.

I am also considering a 790 vs 4200 or 4300. My concerns about the 790 are that it only is available in collar shift, which may be a pain for loader work. Also, the lifting capacity is very low (at the 24 in point), and the PTO is not live. I still might buy it, but I am still thinking about it.
