Ok that clears a lot up. I checked your .089" spec's on the thrust washers is correct. Since your pump uses JD9858 NEEDLE BEARING instead of tapered roller brg similar to the larger pump the shims I posted part #s for are useless to you. Does tech manual give a spec for seating JD 9858 brgs into pump cover or body???

I read through all of the specs for the 1.38 pump and it does not mention anything regarding installation or seating of the needle bearings. At this point in time I am really wondering if the endplay being slightly out of spec is that important. The new quad ring should take care of my initial problem of leaking. If JD doesn't have any thrust washers available larger than the .087-.091" they recommend, maybe it's not that big of deal and I should just stick the new ones in and put her back together. What do you think?

I agree. I'd just install new brgs and hope for the best. Just joking as I think that will work.
