I took mine to a shop and had it professionally welded after I tacked it together. Here's a photo of my ripper that I bought from MetKit. Your design is very good and I'm curious to hear how it performs for you. Nice work.

I got the knife edge ground on the front and used the welder to cut a bevel on my ar400 cutting edge.

Here are some pictures from when I had it tacked together to test its range of motion.

Looks very nice. Be cool if you can put a video once you use it.

I put a convex grind on the ripper knife edge, hoping to get more durability and less work with the grinder. According to this website it is a very good design for what I'm doing...

Are you using an AC or AC/DC welder? I assume you know about 7018 not liking AC you need 7018 AC rods.
With that out of the way the recommended range for 1/8 7018 AC according to the box of Lincoln electrodes is 90-135 Amps. On my welder for the same electrode the range is given as 90-160 Amps. Either way you look at it 155Amps should be plenty.
I agree with the guys who recommended you take this project to a professional and learn to weld on something else. Or you could burn up a bunch of rods on scrap metal before welding on this fantastic looking ripper. Because it looks just that : fantastic.

I've got a couple of requests for a dxf file which is attached. I modified the teeth to provide more of a rake angle and a larger gullet for chip clearance.

TBN won't let me upload it as a dxf, so i changed the file extension to txt. You will need to rename it when you put it on your computer.

That last dxf file was in autocad 2007 format and cannot be opened by earlier versions of autocad. Here's an autocad 2000 format file for the older software. By the way, I fixed my welder and did it myself. It looks pretty decent and works great. I tried to break it but nothing happened. I still need some 1"ID x 1.5" od tubing pieces to retain the pins. If anybody has some scrap I'll buy it.
