I have a John Deere 445 garden tractor with approx. 700 hours on the meter and have started experiencing a severe preformance issue after about 3-4 hours of mowing. The engine sputters, stumbles and nearly dies. If I turn off the PTO it seems to recover temporarily. Allowing the mower to sit and the engine to cool down for about 45 minutes also seems to help, but problem starts again within 45 minutes to 1 hour. Problem seems to be most prevelent during periods of excessive outside temperature.
I have had an independent mechanic look at my tractor ( has 6 years experience at JD dealer repair facility) and he seems to think it is the Fuel Injection Module. Paert # AM118805 with his quoted part price of $1200.00 ! Price does not include labor. Any help or suggestions to resolve this performance issue would be much appreciated.
