When I asked the factory to make the lever longer they did, doglegging it to the right to clear the gear shift, but they hit by right knee. Turns out the reason the 1st version was hard to shift is the arc of the ball on the bottom of the lever passed the line fomed by the movement of the fork it engaged, in other words at mid point the ball was pushing down on the shift rail, making it hard to move. we ground a couple of balls off at the bottom and they sifted like silk.
Tim, dont worry the bend is an easy move. We remove the lever (not hard) and put it in a vise, never like the torch close to the fiberglass or instruments.
