Oil & Fuel Kohler 30KW standby generator

   / Kohler 30KW standby generator #51
Guardian must be cabbaging parts from Kohler. My 17KW vapor fired Guardian V twin has the exact same cooler pictured in your PDF file. It holds 2.5 quarts with the oversize oil filter and it still uses oil but as I stated previously, all engines use oil and I suspect it gets pretty warm in the enclosure anyway.

Our standby is primarily for my wife's contentment, not mine. If I had my druthers, I'd have a Caterpillar or Onan diesel powered standby unit, skid mounted in the shop that would run everything plus the neighbors.

I much prefer diesel exhaust over propane.....:)

Having a genset that smells like a forklift running leaves something to be desired......

I am considering a 30KW home standby generator. I have eliminated Generac and Kohler from my list because they both use a lightweight overhead cam GM engine with a timing belt running at 3600 RPM. I will not buy a GM overhead cam timing belt engine. Instead, I am considering generators using the old cast iron GM 3.0L engine that runs at 1800 RPM.

....I've eliminated GM-Government Motors from my vocabulary entirely the whole caboodle.
