Kubota 2010 M7040 HDC with 580 $ 33,000 , one owner with good maintenance records.

Interim tier 4 is preferred by many. Are both in good condition otherwise?

Either of those are a lot of tractor for no more land than that. If choosing between the 2 the 7060 with the 12 speed is the way to go. Resale will be much between on a 5 year newer model. Their 4 final is a none issue and a plus IMO.

7040 is in very nice condition, kept in barn paint is very orange. I am not much on resale value as I would like to keep the tractor for long time. I have some mechanical skills and would like to teach my kids how to fix things. 7060 might have lot more electronics. Was hopping that previous owners of 7040 in this forum would share some info on maintaining tractor. I currently have 1999 Kubota M8200 open station with 1880 hours but cab in Montana would be nice. Here are photos of 7040. Thank you. IMG_0292.JPGIMG_0009.JPGIMG_0291.jpgIMG_0008.JPGIMG_0004.JPGIMG_0006.jpgIMG_0003.JPGIMG_0001.JPGIMG_0002.JPG

My understanding is that the cab is a bit nicer on the M7060 and hard to pass up 12x12 gears if the M7040 is an 8x8 trans. Do both have 2 rear remotes?

The 12x12 trans would be the deal maker for me.

Just my :2cents:

7040 two remotes, 7060 three remotes. I thoughts that cab was same on both models?

I have no personal experience of the cab differences, just what has been said on TBN and that is that the M7060 cab was bigger and nicer than the M7040 cab.

If you are going to "WORK" this machine, the 12x12 trans is very valuable as well as the 3 rear remotes. Heck I finally added 2 more rear remotes to my 75hp tractor so that I now have 5 sets. I have a 12x12 trans and wish that it was a 16x16. But then I work my tractor to it's maximum capabilities when doing field work.

I know that the emissions stuff is something that a lot of people want to stay away from and I don't blame them. But I believe that it is not as bad as some let on. ( Just something else that has to be learned) If you want to teach your kids how to work on this stuff, maybe it should be with the emissions stuff. It's not like it's going to go away and we will have plain diesel engines in anything anytime in the foreseeable future.

All things to consider and simply pointing different things out. I have no idea what will workout the best for you and your circumstances.

Good luck with your decision.

i had a 2012 M7040 and it was a good machine but the 8 speed is very basic and i found it not offering the correct speed for certain tasks. I was going to upgrade to a M7060 but the price drove me away but if i remember correctly with the M7060 and 12 speed you get a higher lift capacity at the 3 point, higher flow hydraulic pump and the brakes might be different but i cant remember. The benefits of the 12 speed make it a better machine then the 8 speed. Just my opinion.

agree. once had an m7040 (8sp). good utility tractor. upgraded to m8540 12 sp. can't say enough good things that the heavier duty transmission, higher lift, etc, brought for utility use. am out of the loop on the tier 4 but highly recommend the heavier duty transmission option of the 7060 you are looking at.
