Tractor
Kubota l2250
I have a L2250 which is getting tired I am interested in getting some ballpark figures of how much it would cost to rebuild the engine. Also what should be replaced while that far into the tractor. I have a friend who is a diesel mechanic to help. If you have rebuilt the engine on a tractor would you do it again or just get a new tractor? Thanks Randy

I have done several of these 3-cyl Diesels, but not a Kubota. Most of
your cost will be labor, and if that is "free", then it is not too bad. If your
repairs require boring for .25mm oversize pistons and all-new crank bearings,
you can expect to pay about $500-600 for parts, and the boring job that
you will have to farm out to a machine shop. It could be more if your
cam, valves, or valve guides are bad. If that is true, double it.
Valve stem seals and the head gasket is not reusable.

This is approximate, and usually these nice Kubotas are worth fixing (see
note on labor above).
