Leaning tree... advice?

   / Leaning tree... advice? #11
I had a maple like that and got it on the ground. If I remember correctly, there was a way to cut the supporting tree.

The supporting tree was a double and I was behind the standing part while cutting the other one down. It scared the crap out of me - took me five years to get to it.

Back overseas we used to cut down firs, they looked just like this pine and every so often we would have it hanging, same situation you have without the root ball. We would cut it above the stump and get it on the ground. Once I saw pro logger in Czech forest who hung a fir and all he done was cut it in yard long chunks till it came down. That may be the safest thing, to cut it above the root ball and let the fat end drop. Once it is on the ground, disconnected from the root ball, you could drag it with tractor.

But if $70 drops it in somebody elses lap, go for it:)

If you decide to attack it yourself, use wire rope and a snatch block. The latter puts you- and the tractor- out of harms way.
