Almost every tractor manufacturer paints the engine and running gear the same color as the body. These lighter colors, whether green, red, orange, yellow or blue, make it possible to see what you are doing when cleaning up and working on the tractor. The black engine compartment on the Mahindra makes it difficult to identify the source of leaks or other problems. A person can go blind trying to see in there. Stop using black paint. Mahindra red would be lovely.

You do realize that it is probably a justified reason for black. Black is one of the cheaper paints and red is one of the most expensive paints.

John Deere green being expensive has nothing to do with the paint.

Case IH paints running gear and engine black, and only the fenders and hood (body panels) are red. I guess NH does similar but with blue panels. I never gave it much thought until I read this thread, but I do like the way these are painted. It's much easier to repair and paint black if needed.

I kinda like the gray (engine/trans/frame/etc.) red body on my the classic MF 135.

Maybe Mahindra paints it black so you won't see the leaks and defects. :cool2:

Well they certainly use paint to hold oil filters and drain plugs on!

White or gray is much better for identifying leaks ...
