Tractor Sizing Massey 1532 vs. Jd 3038 vs kubota L3800

I have heard alot of good things about Kubota. However from the website it doesnt look like the l3800DT has the option for an enclosed cab. that would be a must for the snow. the other thing was the options seemed that i was paying more money but less power on the K verse a MF. ??

It seems like the MF's move up to larger chassis at lower hp. Just looking at the weights of them. 1532=2600lb, 1533=3000lb , 1544=3000 plus lbs, 1635= 3175lb, 1643=3700lbs. JD and Kubota seem to offer higher HP. in a lighter chassis. JD 3038=2175lbs, Kubota L3800=2600lbs. This has led me to compare machines that weigh in between 2175lb and 2900lbs with the L3800 and 1532 being right in the middle. For the type of work I plan to do (mostly loader work) i don't think having more power without the weight is necessary. Is my thinking logical? (that's a scary question)

You're probably right on the cab. Never seen one on a L3800 and I don't need one. The L3800 was less money than comparable MF when I bought mine.

I like the extra power for mowing and pulling a big box blade, but not really needed for loader work. If you want to save a little, the L2800-L3200 are basically the same size as the L3800, but less HP and less money. These 4wd compact tractors can do a lot of work! On my L3800 with the rear tires loaded and a 500+ lb counter weight on the 3 pt hitch it's a dirt and gravel movin machine! Love it!

Meaningless? Mowing

I spend about 70% of my tractor time pulling a bush hog. I like a little extra pto power.

Also with the tractor ballasted right, that extra power is noticeable pullin a loaded box blade uphill. Our drive is a mile long and 3/4 of it is not flat.

If you are doing any sort of FEL work, you definitely need the weight. Before I could get my rear tires loaded, the rears would spin easily just trying to do some minimal stuff with the FEL. Once the tires were loaded it seemed like the tractor had twice the power. FEL wasn't lifting rear wheels up and the tractor could actually push stuff around. I would definitely get as much weight as possible.
