Ok, sounds like you are making progress and talking with knowledgeable people. I know the tractor more than hydraulics, although I built my firewood block-splitter which works very well. I used a Briggs and Stratton 6HP with a pump direct-mounted, an arrangement of second-hand parts and a cylinder with an ax-head welded to it. :thumbsup:
Remember, the drive has load on it only when the pump is actually doing work. That is why I thought a pump on the timing case would be best, but PTO is also a good idea. Best of luck, keep us up to date with your progress and pictures are a great help! :drink:
