Does anyone know anything about the Avery or MM BF. We were told it is a 1946 model. It needs some work, but were wondering about how much it may be worth
Also sold by Montgomery Wards. Probably not worth much more than any other 65 year old tractor. "Needing work" makes it worth anywhere from $0.12 per pound to about $800.

I'm restoring a 1951 MM BF (been working on this project for the past 3 years). MM bought B.F. Avery Co. in 1950. Avery had a model R in it's product line as did MM. So MM renamed the Avery model R and called it the MM BF.
I paid $1300 for my BF. The 4-cyl Hercules engine had to be rebuilt (cost $800 parts, $800 labor). I figure I'll have about $4500 in that BF by the time it's parade ready. I overpaid for a non-running tractor ($700-900 is a better price) but I really wanted this BF for my collection so I paid more than I normally would.
So there's no such thing as a 1946 MM BF. However, there is a 1946 Avery model R.
I'm repainting the BF to classic MM colors--Prairie Gold #2 and Cherry Red.
You are going to have a great looking tractor by the time you are finished. These are always beautiful when they are done. I think from what we have been told then that what we have is the Avery model R.
