Montana 4340 Steering Hydraulic Cylinder Disassembly for Rebuild

I have a steering cylinder that is leaking on my Montana 4340. I can't figure out how to disassemble it so I can replace the seals. Everything I can find online about rebuilding cylinders they have a head that screws off. This cylinder appears the be one solid piece that doesn't come apart. Would someone be able to point me in the right direction? Thanks!

Take off that hose with the bango fitting and you will see a snap ring on the end of the cylinder. Remove that while it’s in the bore and then it will come apart.

When I did mine I never could figure out a way to assemble it with the snap ring so I left it off and let the steering stops keep it from ejecting the cylinder

Where did you find the packing kit? I have been unable to find a packing kit. I have a small leak on my 4340.

The part numbers you need are A1630273 and A1630272.

The parts for the steering cylinder are on page 96 and 97. Call them or look them up here: PartsForMontanaTractors.com
The parts they sent me were LS parts but were exactly the same. Hope this helps.

Did you figure out how to reinstall the retaining clip in the banjo fitting after you serviced the cylinder ?
