I had thought about painting it to match the Montana green. I had a gallon of some safety yellow paint left over from a different job and didn't want to trash it. I bought the flail mower in a school auction for $300.00 and it was in good working condition. But, I can’t leave well enough alone so, I tore it down to the last nut and bolt. I sand blasted everything I could, then primed it four times, sanded it, and then painted it with six coats of paint. It looks very nice and it has an 18" shine paint job. I had to change out some bearings and I replaced all the hangers, knives and steel bolts with all stainless bolts and nuts.
I really like how the flail cuts my bermuda grass. It leaves a very nice sharp looking cut. I did mow with a Land Pride FDR 1672 finish mower before and it cut well but not as good as my flail mower does. I did tent all the windows on the cab. I took all the windows off including the trim and handles. I tented the glass with a 20% 3M film that worked so well. I can tell big differences in the cab temperature during the summer. The cab will hold a steady 68 degrees now, and before it would only get down in the mid 70 degree range. Also the sun glare is gone now plus it does look good. People ask me about the tented windows all the time and how I like it.
