check plug on right side just above running board level, near flange of trans and center section.

do not take any BOLTS out. just the plug..

I've looked it over a few times and cannot find anything that looks like it is a check point. Even thought maybe someone put something different in the hole, and I don't see anything.

Odd in the manual there are 2 pictures, one of the top, and one of the bottom of the tractor. Arrows point to all of the service points and give it a number. In the next section are tables with the numbers and tells you what it is and what needs to be done. The drain, fill and check points are all grouped together. For the rear end it lists the 3 number and explains each, for the hydraulic, same thing. The trans only 2, fill and drain.

Second picture, top row. It is that greasy looking "bolt" just above the running board. It is not a bolt but a hex headed plug. You should be able to see some threads on it. Do not take out any hex heads that are flush with the housing.
