Anyone notice that Napa Gold oil filter 1334 oil filter has changed recently? Maybe a new supplier? I have not cut open a new style filter yet. For starters the box is sealed different. The box states "contents made in South Korea." The "old style" Napa gold states "Made in USA". The new filter sealing gasket is different and has 6 holes on top while the USA made old style has 8 holes on top. The new filter has a sealed plastic top while the old style did not come with that. The old-style filter is slightly longer as well.

Iirc, a 1064 had less holes and was taller compared to a 1334 just like your pic shows.

Maybe wix 'consolidating' filters??

Both work on the 790 and the Hyundai Santa fe we use to own...

A parts store rep told me Wix has been purchased by Mann filters.
Mann stuff always looked top-notch.

If I recall Correctly, Mann is just a "Lable", They don't make all that they sell.

I was sad when finding out that the NAPA Gold were no longer WIX.

I hope whoever makes the Napa Gold filters now does a better job than the last manufacturer. Saw this video where they cut open a Kubota branded oil filter vs Napa Gold, Platinum and Silver filters.

After some 50 years doing mechanical things, I am still mystified why people go for aftermarket rather than OEM filters.

Because some after market filters are as good as OEM and considerably less expensive due to extra high mark up.

Not too long ago, I saw a Kubota oil filter with a split can, I've never seen that on a NAPA Gold, and I've used a bazillion of them!

The other day I bought a Kubota oil filter for one of my tractors, it was waaaay shorter than the original filter, I actually thought the dealer made a mistake but nope, the longer one has been replaced with a shorter one!

All you have to do is figure out which ones are as good and which ones aren't. Here's a hint: looking at them isn't the answer.
Are you prepared to go toe to toe with a machine manufacturer to prove the Brand X filter you saved $10 on is as good as theirs and didn't cause a $6000 fuel system repair?

@ Sawyer Rob I wonder if Kubota has gone through their entire filter line like that. Did you run the number online with your original?
