Hi.

Tractor is a 1972 Mitsubishi R2500 2-cylinder diesel.

It has a previous-owner installed front-end loader that has a belt-driven pump.

The 4-bolt mounting bolt-pattern is 2-inches square.

The top pressure fitting that connects to the control-valves is 3/8-NPT.

The bottom low-pressure fitting that connects to the bottom of the reservoir is 1/2-NPT.


The shaft on the existing pump is a very short 7/16 diameter,

The existing 7/16-bore V-belt pulley has wallowed out it's bore and is un-usable; alas, I have searched in vain for a 7/16-bore replacement.

As I can't find a 7/16-bore V-belt drive-pulley to fit my existing pump, I am considering buying a new pump that has a more common shaft-diameter, such as 1/2 or 5/8.


When I looked at the pump selection at Surplus Center, I was overwhelmed at my ignorance about hydraulic pumps.

They list them by cubic-inch ??whatever?? and there are hundreds of choices.

Then there are two-stage, single-stage, and many other options.


Can someone enlighten me as to what I need ??

I ??think?? the one I have is ContraryClockWise, as it faces the opposite direction to the engine.

How many GPM's do you need, and what pressure is the current pump?

My Power-Trac uses this 3 GPM/3000 psi pump for the steering and the lift. With 2, 2 in cyl, it will lift 1800 lbs. It is V belt driven off the engine. They make this pump in a larger size, and I will find you one that will work. Shaft size is 1/2 in. CW rotation looking at the shaft.

Which way would the pump have to turn if mounted like an alternator?

I have no idea whatsoever.

There are no identification markings that I can see.

The loader is fully hydraulic, with down-pressure.

The bucket is at least three healthy wheel-barrow-fulls and it will raise it full of #5 limestone with authority.

It will easily raise the front wheels several inches using down-pressure.


Which way would the pump have to turn if mounted like an alternator?


The opposite direction.

According to my feeble descriptions, is this pump capable of meeting my requirements ??

I like that they also have seal-kits on hand.

I.D. sizewise, how does the SAE-12/SAE-10 compare to my 1/2-NPT IN, 3/8-NPT OUT ??

What would be the center-to-center of the 2-bolt SAE mounting pattern ??

Which way does your engine turn looking at the fan?

I will look again tomorrow in daylight; but, I am almost certain that the engine rotates Clock-Wise the same as all the rest of the various engines around the place.

I am not smart enough to do pictures. :(


The hydraulic-pump rotates opposite to engine rotation, just like the one bolted onto the immediate front of the tractor,coupled to the crank-shaft, that powers the 3-point hitch lift-arms. :)

I just had a close look at the engine and, according to the pitch of the fan-blades, the engines turns Clock-Wise; thus, the loader pump must turn Counter-Clock-Wise.

G'day you can get a taper lock pulley and bore the centre parallel then machine a sleeve with the correct size bore and then press in and weld, have done this a few times myself with good success, would have to be cheaper than a new pump i'm guessing.
