While watching videos on You Tube of vintage Ford thousand series tractors I discovered Farmtrac makes what looks like exact copies of the old Fords in India.

Did they buy the tooling from Ford?

Kinda wish I could get one here....a NEW Ford replica with no emission controls.

The way they did the dealers over here back in the 2000's I'm afraid they might have a hard time getting anybody to sell them, I bought a Farmtrac 360 DTC brand new back in 2006 and knock on wood it has never been to the shop, it's always performed flawlessly.

Is that right? I knew nothing of their history. It just caught my eye when I saw these new ones and they look identical to the old Fords. And no emission controls on them.
So for sure they'd never be allowed to sell those here.

Yeah, back in the 2000's they were selling those tractors over hear and they were a carbon copy of the old Ford tractors with the exception that they were Farmtrac's and I'm not sure what engines they used in those that were made in India, the smaller tractors were made by LS in South Korea. I believe Escort's is/was the parent company and they left the Farmtrac dealers holding the bag with lot's of inventory, minimal parts support and no help with the warranty, many had to file for bankruptcy.

Oh okay. I see on the web site they are still owned by Escort, whom I had never heard of.

So did they just do the China/India thing and steal the Ford design, or did they actually buy the tooling from Ford for those old models?

Seems like the east Indians love old Fords and Massey's. You can actually still get a brand new Massey Ferguson 35 over there.

If I recall correctly they own the tooling for the old Ford's due to a partnership, at some point, with Ford/New Holland.

I'd check Wikipedia. 🤷‍♂️

Ford used Escort (made in India) to make tractors for 3rd world countries. When Ford ended the partnership Long Agriculture started importing the tractors. Recently Kubota has formed a partnership with Escort; I hope that will lead to Kubota carrying the tractor.

I'd really love to have a new old Ford. I LOVE my old 3000.

But you know if they did sell them here, they'd have to ruin them by putting a DPF on them.

Back in the 70's Kubota and Ford almost got together. But it never went through.
Ford wanted someone to make their small tractors and Kubota wanted a big dealer network to get into North America.
