I had to blow off a little steam and brag a little at the same time. My daughter had a difficult pregnancy and the baby had to be taken by C section. The pregnancy was endangering my daughters life so the baby, Summer, was a little premature. Summer has been in an incubator on oxygen and they are slowly weaning her off. She is now taking formula and looks to be well on her way. Last few days have been a little rough, but it looks now the road ahead will be smooth. attached is a picture of her out of the incubator being held by grandma.

Dozernut, I bet the tension in your lives relaxed about 50-60 dB!!!! Gee, for a preemie, that kid looks GOOD. I don't think anyone would have known if you hadn't said. Hope all is well with your daughter, dad. Brace yourself, you get to relive all the fun stages your daughter put you through, school, BOYS, drivers lisc, (did I mention BOYS???) and other fun stuff.

Enjoy! For a guy who is about to become a partner in a daycare operation do you think Dozernut or even Mr. Dozernut is a suitable title?

Thanks for the kind words. Yes she was a preemie. The Doc said that if she had went full term, she would have weighed close to 12 lbs. She weighed as a preemie, 8 lbs 10 oz. Mom and dad are doing fine, my daughter has been released from the hospital. Baby Summer might get to come home next week if her lungs fully develope. It feels like someone took the elephant off my back now that we know things will be okay. She can call me what ever she wants./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Thanks! We got a call today, the baby is not doing so well. They are tranferring her to St. Marys in Evansville. Hopefully the specialist can figure out whats wrong and fix it. She is not critical, but she is not responding like she should. Any small prayer for this innocent child would be appreciated! Thanks to all in advance for your prayers!

Have faith my friend.

This afternoon on the way home from Lawton we stopped over in Norman Oklahoma. My favoritest oldest grandaughter is starting OU this semester. We had some goodies for her.

She was a premie and her parents were warned she might not survive and if she did there might be development problems. She beat the odds.

If fact if time and Mohammed's bandwidth wasn't a constriction I could tell you about my grandaughter. She's special beyond measure. She was captain of the cheerleaders last year so there hasn't been any physical ramifications of her being a tad early and delivered C section.

She's packed an A average forever. And everyone that knows her knows that her head is screwed on straighter than ninety nine point nine percent of her peers.

So have faith. And enjoy.

Remember, playhouses and rocking horses are best made by grandpas. The checkbook can make some prettier. But no checkbook can replace the love that goes into it like only a grandpa can do.

Dozernut,

Our thoughts are with your family and that precious child...

Your granddaughter wieghed more as a premie than my child
did at full term. She certainly has the weight going for her.

GOOD LUCK!
Dan

Heres an update to those who have been kind enough to respond. Baby Summer is completely off oxygen and and breathing on her own. An xray has confirmed that her lungs are now fully developed. She is nursing good and appears to have jumped the latest hurdle with no side effects. According to the specialists there is nothing wrong with my granddaughter, but the fact that she is a preemie. The original hospital was trying to wean her off of the oxygen and feeding tube too quickly, she was such a large baby they wern't treating her like a preemie.
Thanks to all who replied with your kind words and prayers, you are indeed someone to ride the river with and are always welcome at this home.

Glad to hear everything is OK. When my baby was born, the cord came unattached. We found out yesterday that it is realy rair, and that she could have died at any time during the preg. Not a good thing. Luckly everything is OK. And we got one more thing to be thankfull for.
