I have been viewing this forum for a while and have found it very informative. I have recently purchased a 90 acre farm that has been neglected for at least 30 years. Half of property was farmed for hay and tobacco and the other half is hardwoods. Needless to say the cropland has overgrown into thickets and small saplings. Lots of work ahead with building road access including a 40ft span across a creek. So much work to do and not enough $$$$ and time I am going to post some pics in time. Thanks for all advice and help.

Here are a few pics of the old barn. I believe it is a fixer upper. all walls straight. Just have to do some work on ends and a replace a few blocks.

Barns will last over 150 years if you keep a good roof on them. My neighbor who is in his mid 90's believes it's also important to keep a lot of weight in the top of barns with high roofs like the one you have, he believes it keeps the wind from blowing them off vertical.

Welcome aboard Murfdog. How's the structure on your barn? I like the looks of it. I'd be curious to know what other treasures lurk on your property in amongst those trees. Good luck and "pace yourself"!:D
