Ford 1715
Just saying hi. I recently purchased a 1997 1715 from the original owner, it is 4x4 and has 800 hours on it. I think it's in great, original condition and had pretty light mowing duty so far. I think I got a good deal at $3000, but does need some minor work - mostly electrical. The motor and hydraulics seem pretty clean.

We have 30 acres in central Texas, 1/3 is coastal hay pasture and the rest is wooded. I have started clearing the brush and it will be used mostly to pull a brush hog and light pulling. Eventually we will be planting a 10-12 acre orchard and wedding venue. Eventually she will have a 40-50 HP bigger brother.

Anyways... Looking forward to mostly learning with some posting.

You are going to have fun! I used to have a 1925, and I was amazed at how well it ran, and how nice it was to operate. You will probably find yourself coming up with lots of excuses to do little projects just to fire it up and hear it run.

I had to look up what the 1715 looked like. Sure does look like you got a heck of deal. Nice looking tractor.

Can anybody explain why Ford had the 1715 and 1720 being built and sold at the same time?

I think they had different gear boxes. 1720 was a shuttle shift 12/12 and 1715 was a gear 9/3.

Dido to the others on you getting a great deal at only 800 hours she is only broken in good. I had a Ford 1210 with a Shibaura engine. Nice smooth running little engine with lots of torque for it's size.

I have a 1715 built in 1994, 4x4 with FEL, and it's been a heck of tractor so far. You'll really enjoy having it on the property! These things are pretty much bullet proof. The clutch safety switch (on the left side, down lower on the trans) can get hooked on thick brush and cause a problem. Just keep an eye on it, and maybe build a guard for it if you're capable of such things. I got mine with 1200 hours, FEL and 60" brush hog for $8k, and that was a very good deal in my area. I'd say you did good!

1715 is 81.2 ci 27.3hp, 1720 is 91.3ci 27.7hp, 1720 had 2 trans option, 12/4 or 12x12 SSS.
