New Tiltmeter Model

Rick....as a newbie, can you tell me what the difference between degrees of slope and percent of slope? Why would one want to have both available? There have been many threads on tiltmeters but this question hasen't been asked. Am I the only one that's brain-dead?
Also, why couldn't the tiltmeters be stuck on with double-sided sticky tape?

Hey, how about a magnetic mount? Is there anything in the tiltmeter that would be affected by a magnet (ie. steel ball)?

Robs...in one of the previous threads on tilt meters...I think they said that the little ball (indicator) was steel so that it should not be placed near a magnet....but why wouldn't double-sided tape work....or maybe butyl...we put windshields in with that stuff....it's really strong...
Maybe I'm missing something here....Anyone out there care to comment?

Hi Guys,
Indeed a magnet is a no-no. I send a strip of 3-M
weatherproof with every indicator now. Decided to after
feed back from this site. I use to send it on some models
anyway. A meter can be mounted with the tape, IF the meter
is still in the proper up-right position. (accuracy will be
lost if not.) As far as percent vs degrees, I have found
that most u.s. market tractors use degrees as a reference
for their machines. The percent model, as you can see from
the model #40P on my web site, the numbers would have to be
very close together, as shown, from 0 to 5 percent.
To cover the entire range, from 0 to say 50 percent,
(or 26.5650 degrees,) or higher, the indicator would have
to be very large. 100 percent is 45 degrees. So you see the
numbers would be very crowded. I had a customer recently
that made a small wood wedge on his table saw and varnished
it, and used it to level the meter on his dash. He mounted
meter on wedge, and wedge on dash with double side tape.
By the way, I do have a new percent model in the works,
but it is for asphalt machines. It will read from 0 to 15
percent. Hope this helps. If not, ask away. I'll answer
any and all. Keep in mind, I know alot about alot of things
but darn little about most things. I posted a comparison
chart awhile back that showed degrees vs. percent vs. grade
to one. I can re-post if needed. Rick

Sorry JiminMi,
I got to rambling and neglected your question. I make a
percent model for some customers that have over seas
tractors, that use percent as their reference instead
of degrees. Also, as stated, asphalt applicators use
the percent, to show small drops in road beds for run-off.
P.S. The price for the new model #45 is a temporary
introductory price. Think you got it tough? The average
natural gas bill for my facility was $600.00 a month
before the gas hike. Just got my latest bill. $1,115.00.

Got my tiltmeter this week and got it mounted and it did come with double sided tape on the back but I chose to mount it with the breackets to the top of the cab, nice instalation, waiting to try it out. gary

Sorry about the gas hike...phones as well...our phone bill at work (with all the new area codes) has now surpassd $5000.

Funny thing is, I sell meters to our local phone co. for
a few of their bucket trucks. Of course they asked for a
discount. When I asked for a discount on my phone bill,
you would have thought I told the funniest joke of the
year- the way they laughed. Oh well, life goes on-and then
