The clutch adjusting linkage can bend in use and this will cause clutch travel problems. I had exactly that and when I got under the tractor to look at what might be the problem, I noticed this linkage rod was bent. Straightened it and readjusted at the clevis and no more problems (about four years ago). I am now again finding the clutch travel getting smaller and I suspect the same problem. My tractor is due for some maintenance work in the next couple of weeks so I will check it then.
