I recently bought a Kubota L3940 (40 Horsepower) with Front End Loader, 4WD, HST transmission. I have 12 acres, but not nearly the road work you are talking about. I cut, disc, plant 7 acres, and do a fair bit of dirt work with the FEL. Have not needed a backhoe, but could easily add one to this tractor if I found enough need.
I have found this tractor to be a bit larger than what I could have gotten away with, but I have zero regrets concerning the size, and the HST transmission. I'm not a brand fanboy, and there are comparable tractors from the other well known names that are very well made.
But that orange paint sure looks nice
