K this is about a car but everyone here has been super qui m friendly and helpful so I figured I'd ask....

Just changed the back brake light on my car and to pull it apart I had to break the old bulb to get it with pliers. Now my question is there was some peanut butter looking gunk on it.....what is it and should I get a new little module??? Pics below

Could be anti corrosion assembly lube/dielectric compound.

Doesn't appear to be chunky style.

Not knowint what it is, I'd clean it with a good electrical cleaner and put my own dielectic compund on it.
Plus you can always check the other side too, if it has that same gunk on there.

My guess would be that magicheater is right about what it was and DieselMonk is right about what to do about it.:D

Looks sorta like dialectic grease to keep water out of your electrical connections. I know I put it on my Honda atv to keep water out of what little bit of wiring it has.
