Bro-tek wrote back and said that the parts were duty-free. When I checked other forums, it was said that tractor parts were duty-free being sent from canada to united states.

We ship to Canada most every week. There are a few things to keep in mind.

There are no duties on tractor parts made in the USA, shipping to Canada.

Unlike the US, Canada charges taxes, GST and PST or HST, on items shipped in from another location. Usually 13%. Taxes are collected prior to delivery.

On shipments over $20, UPS and FedEx Ground charge a brokerage fee on the Canadian side for processing the importation. FedEx Ground hides it in the shipping cost so it's not obvious until you look for the breakdown. FedEx Express (Air) doesn't charge a fee, but the price is high enough to cover it... Postal Service does not charge a brokerage fee, but does collect the above taxes upon delivery.

UPS or FedEx will handle larger, heavier packages than will the Postal Service. That severely limits what can be shipped by Postal.

We want to prevent unpleasant surprises so we always give our Canadian customers a hard quote for shipping and an accurate estimate of the brokerage fees and taxes they'll be charged on their end.
