Hi. New member here with a question. I'm looking for an older JD utility model for doing some bush-hogging around my property but also something with a good reputation that I could keep and preserve for years. My limitation is the LENGTH of my garage/storage space. Currently I have an old MF 65 with a 5' shredder so I need something about that overall length. The MF is right at 11' long from tip of the hood to the end of the 3 point arms. I'm thinking about the only JD models that will be that length or shorter are likely 3 cylinder models. Maybe I'm wrong. I was thinking something like a 2155 or its predecessors might fit the bill but I've had a hard time finding overall lengths for any of these models.
Does anyone know the overall lengths of models like the 2155, 2040, 1020, etc.? How about 4 cylinder models like the 2355? Sounds like most of these models were well-loved and have good reputations.
I presume most any 3 cylinder JD such as those mentioned above will handle a 6' bush hog well (or will they?). How about a 7 footer? Too much mower? Are these 3 cylinder models all category 1? I imagine a 7' shredder would be category 2. Any advice on this decision would be appreciated. Thanks.
