I thought Sany's came with a 5 year/5000 hr warranty? You have to pay for that?
There was a good YouTube that compared the CFG and AGT str35 (?). They had some odd quirks to them.
I don't remember which one it was, but the thumb was not fully retractable. I have been land clearing and pulling a lot stumps. I can't even begin to say how annoying it would be using this if the thumb didn't retract all the way.

They do but what I was referring to was the built in cost of the warranty vs. a comparatively equipped machine w/o a factory warranty.

Yes I have seen this video and was helpful. The machine I am looking at however is in a different class than those machines.

What machine was that?

Can you transport to the dealer for maintenance?

Can you acquire spare parts?

Can you do your own maintenance?

Can you live with perhaps a 1% or less chance of a catastrophic or very expensive fault?

I'm not a big fan of warranties, but most stuff I own is long out of warranty.

I you buy Sany equipment from an auction the warranty is null and void. Ask C and C Equipment how they know, they bought 3. There is a Ytube video warning about that. 🍻

Don't buy the extended warranty. Put the 10K into an investment account, if you ever need a repair, pull the cost from the investment account. I'm betting you will be more than 10K ahead in 5 years.
Buy a bigger or another machine/attachment with the extra $10K. Money in the "investment account" will be worth a lot less in 5 years after inflation and pitiful interest earned.

Just curious as to what others would do. I am considering purchasing a new mini excavator 4 ton. One machine is roughly 10k more but has a 5yr. bumper to bumper warranty, that includes a service tech traveling to your location up to 300 miles round trip to fix an issue if needed. The other machine is essentially identical in all specs and brand new however only has a 1 yr. parts only warranty. I would be using to maintain a small property and would probably average less than 100h a year on the machine. I love equipment and using equipment is more of a mental health break for me than anything else. I do not plan to do any commercial work and may help some neighbors out who need something done on their property from time to time. Considering that you do not plan to use the machine for commercial purposes and it will serve you more as a hobby or to help your neighbors, a parts warranty is quite appropriate. At the same time, you can save a significant amount. I’m raising money for it myself, I recently read about 21bit.com, found 21bit casino free chip no deposit and am trying to find out something about it. Money is never superfluous. Anyone who says that money can’t buy happiness is simply lying, let them try to live on $200 a month! In short I am thinking that I would never recoup the extra cost for paying for a built in warranty on this machine given I will not be using commercially or daily.

Any thoughts?
It seems that in your case your best bet is to go with a new Mini Ex with a one year warranty and save some money.

Perfectly said. It's like self insuring something.

I have a really old (1990) kubota kh41, small 19hp machine. I bought it with 1200hrs and now just has 1980hrs. In the almost 700hrs I have owed it I have replaced the following parts..1 fan belt, a few hoses and $250 worth of track bearings and seals. I would expect less than $500 in parts not including maintenance items that a warrenty isnt going to cover anyway.

my machine lives a hard life, kept outside, dug rocks bigger than it could really move, dug stumps bigger than it could get out of the hole and cleared lots of mature northeast hardwood forest. $500 in parts in 700hrs is prety damn cheap for repair costs.
