Some more....

Here is a shot where I got stuck with both the 12' disc, and the little 5'. I was able to work myself out of both with the bucket, leaving the discs behind. Came back in from the 'dry' side, and pulled them back out with a chain. Was desperately trying to break the ground up some, to get it to dry out. Too bad its RAINING again today!!

Received 4 gravel trucks of asphalt millings to put on my driveway. It's kinda neat to say my driveway is made out of "Rochester Rd"... A well known and traveled roadway here on the north side of Detroit.

Well I finally got my grapple on and plumbed. It took me for ever because I just couldn't get the hydraulic fittings terminology down so I kept getting the wrong stuff. Well that just means that I have a few extra parts for the next project.

Got a pretty good one for my first try.

This is my first attempt at posting pictures I hope it works. I have to make a bracket still to mount the flat face connectors to but I just couldn't wait to go out and try it out. And by doing that I found a problem. I used the switch I installed on the joystick to control the diverter valve direct and took the switch out already so I have to mount a relay and control it with the switch instead, I should have known this but I got in a hurry. I will post more pictures as I get the bugs worked out that is if these even work.

Very cool. What kind of spacing are you doing on the pumpkins? I don't have any planting equipment yet, so I did it the redneck way and made some for rows with a middle buster, dropped the seeds in every few feet, then covered them back up. Actually, I had to do that with the corn and the watermelon too. The pumpkin seedlings are actually coming up pretty well, but I'm sure they would have done better had I had the proper equipment.

So now I have more equipment added to my list of things to buy, which now includes a stump grinder, a grapple, a disc, a cultipacker, and now a planter. ( I know there's more on the list, but I can't remember at the moment).

The rows themselves are about 11' apart. We did 1 row at a time, using the outer section. Then followed the marker for the next row. Planter is set for 34" rows.... I think it will work quite nice.

Not sure how often he was dropping seeds in... We took the seed pot off, and put a funnel in its place. The rider just drops a seed every 8-10' I think (who knows, he could have been doing them every 4')

We put beans in with it today too. Those, we used the same plates that we used for the silver queen corn.

We have also used this planter to mark rows for transplanting purposes etc.

Here is a pic of the planter when I went to pick it up. Got it for $500 - its an IH-56 4 row. Seems to work decent. Original plan was to make 2 2-row planters out of it, but now I am thinking we may just leave it alone.




This shot is from last weekend, putting sweet corn in - my uncle is making sure the seeds are properly distributed in the pot. Because we plant so little, you have to make sure the seed gets put in the right areas, to work properly with the plate in the planter.
