We have a 2000 Honda Rancher. My wife uses it to put hay out for the horses 365 days a year. From the heat of summer to three foot snow drifts in winter our Rancher is true blue. But this is a Polaris thread.

If you know when to use low and hi range, you
may never change a belt. I know of one 500HO that has been plowing snow
for 8 years on the original belt. I know of atleast one other with the original belt.

Basically, the clutches engage at 1200-1400 rpm, and Polaris states you need
to be a minimum of 300rpm above that.

3-7mph, towing or plowing, low range.
Above that hi range.

Good to know you can get that kind of life out of the belt when used
properly.

The Polaris Phoenix 200 has only one range, however. It does not keep
me from buying one and trying it out.

Those are clutched differently, most likely like the Sportsman 300, and Hawkeye 400. They did not have a low range, but quite a few did get worked.
