Yanmar FX24D replaced with Massey GC2400
Before replacing/cleaning the carburetor check the Intake Joint O ring. Suddenly my 2005 Kodiak 450 started having problems starting and running. It acted like it was running out of fuel and leaning out with hard start. I immediately thought it was the carburetor needing a cleaning, so instead of buying a carb. kit I bought a new carb, for a couple of $s more. Nope, didn't change a thing. I finally removed the carb. intake joint and found the O ring broken.

It must have back fired at some time and damaged the O ring.

Symptoms are hard starting, running lean, won't idle, and the blinking lean light. I replaced the O ring with a metric replacement. Put in a new plug and it runs like new, or at least as good as just before it started acting up.

I’ve got a 2000 Kodiak 400 that I’ve owned for 18-19 years,love it.

I've got a 2000 400 Ultramatic Kodiak too - it still has the original belt. They don't make them like that anymore.
