John Deere 4200
I Am thinking about getting this B6100 4x4 that I found. What is a reasonable price. I know that depends on a lot. Im going to look at it tomorrow. As far as I have been told. Everything works, motor runs good and doesn稚 smoke, 1600hrs, new tires and battery. They had it listed at $4000 and keep dropping the price. There asking $3000 now. That includes the little trailer. I offered $2200 without the trailer. Any thoughts

It looks like the tires are new which is a plus. Around here a 4x4 unit with a FEL is in the 5k range. $2200 seems pretty good if it runs well.

Chris, you PM'd me the question below and I am answering so it may help someone in the future. My tractor also has the B6001 stamp, you can see it in the picture. My tractor was bought from a Kubota dealer so it's not a gray market one. You should be fine with the tractor above assuming the metal plate says B6100.

I assume the second number is serial number derived so I blued it out.

"I just happened to hear about this "gray market" thing. I went to look at the tractor and passed cause of the serial numbers stamped in the tractor above the aluminum spec plate. It said B6001-23068. Since I saw the B6001 on Kubotas no no list I passed. although the aluminum spec plate said it was a B6100."

According to the link you sent me to Orange tractor I see you bought it, good as these little guys are really beasts for doing work. All I've done to mine in the 13 years I've owned it is change the hoses and the clutch, oil changes too of course. I can't tell where you live but one thing to note if a cold climate is they need lots of glow plug time when cold. From 40F and lower mine usually needs a solid minute. Make sure your oil light works and you can cross reference the oil filter to one you can buy almost anywhere. BTW, I also squeezed a small car battery in mine because it's way cheaper than the Kubota listed one. :D

Thanks for the information. Sorry, I saw you wrote me yesterday and forgot to reply. I feel good that it is a N.American B6100. The guy I bought it from said he bought it used from the Kubota dealer in Panama City, Fl years ago. It has there dealer sticker on the side of it. I tried to call them but they are having phone troubles related to hurricane Michael. The tractor is in pretty good shape for being about 40 years old. couple of things need replaced not anything major. As for the power steering, I may just pass on that. For what I want to use it for it would just be an unnecessary luxury. I first learned to operate a tractor on an old Ford 3610 30 years ago. I already have had my kids on it teaching them. They love it.

Power steering is most useful when you have a loader. Not that big a deal with bar tires and little weight on the front. Do check the steering box for fluid and bearing looseness as the box is a weak point on the tractor and the parts are hard to find.
