Price Check Price check - used 955

Gents,
Hoping for your opinions on this deal:

1996 JD 955 with less than 400 hours
4WD, HST, ROPS w/ Canopy,
JD #7 Subframe backhoe,
JD 70A FEL
Turf Tires all around w/ new fronts.

$16750 plus $250 for a 250 mile delivery.

I'm comparing this to what's available locally and I'm not hating the deal, but I'm totally new to this market.

I might be off base here but I think that price is kinda high. I sold my 2001 JD 790 4 WD with a 70 loader and 7 backhoe with Canopy and filled rear tires with less than 200 hours for $12500.00 and it was clean as they get. The 790 doesn't have HST but there about the same size as the 955. The 955 in the picture looks very clean but its still 9 years old. Just my thoughts.

The tractor looks to be in great shape.. and the hours are good.
At 33 hp, it's very similar to the 4300/4310/3320 power wise, but before any of the Ehydros came out.
The 7bh, and 70A loader are somewhat limited in their capabilities though, compared to something like the 48 or 448 backhoes that are available today. In that regard, they are the same attachments that went on the 790.

IMHO, that price could be a bit high, but, keep in mind there aren't a lot of this type of tractor around (in this condition), so they command a pretty good price.

Is the tractor 1 owner? Is there a good service record available?

You can always dicker, it IS the American way, after all /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif , but, those machines get snapped up pretty quick.

Mine was $18.9K with low (140) hours, 70A FEL, soft cab, and 5' PTO blower 3 years ago. 500 trouble-free hours later, I just love it.
