Thanks DaTeacha,

I've been doing some of that for sure. Wife is still
nervous about buying used. With low rates still
around (especially NH) I may just go that way.

Just thought I'd get some feedback on that model
and whatever else any input the forum might offer.

Thanks for the advise!

If you are serious about mowing the TC29 with Hydro will make a nice mower. I have A 1530 WITH 60 INCH 914A. It is in the same family as the TC-29. Be sure to give the mmm a good going over. I put bushings in my lift arms at about 400 hours. Slip the belt off of the sheave closest to the discharge and check the bearings for each blade. The blades should spin freely and smoothly.

From what you described, I would offer low on the tractor. It does not sound like it has had good maintenance and care. Refurbishing the mower could be $500 plus and without records, I would go through and service everything including the power steering reservoir/filter. That is another $500 if you throw in the value of your labor with the parts. I would not consider making an offer if you could not inspect and try out that tractor. Be sure the Hydo is in good shape without burned fluid. The most I would offer is around $8000 if everything looked ok.

Thanks JohnL,

And thanks to all that posted. After some serious thought
and your help I've decided to hold off on buying used.
Just don't want to gamble.

I originally intended on buying a Kioti (CK30 a great tractor),
hence the "Tomkioti" screen name. My biggest problem is that
Kioti has gone up in price and financing. What once seemed like
an attractive differential now seems to be shrinking. My New
Holland/Kubota dealer is literally 10 min. from my business.
Closest Kioti guy is 40 min. and waaay high on price.
The good price guys are at least an hour away.
Not at all convenient for service.

Looked at a L3400 today. Dealer say's it pulls great
and has greater FL lift than the CK30 or the TC29.
Gotta sleep on it i guess.

Yes I'm wishy washy, I admit it. Probably the worst lurker
in these posts as well. Sorry bout that folks!

Thanks again. I'll post when I actually purchase and then
figure out a new screen name.... if I in fact need one.

Don't worry, I've checked the rules. You must get
permission from the administrators. I would
certainly do it right if at all but thanks for the
info just the same.

Tom, your nickname doesn't bother me, but if you want to change it I'd sure understand. I wonder how many people think I have something to do with Jinma tractors? /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I hope I didn't discourage you too much about the New Holland. Probably the tractor would last a long time. I just wanted to offer you pricing advice based on your description of the tractor and the hours. If you save yourself $4000 or $5000 by buying used, you can make a lot of repairs or buy al lot of implements with that money. I actually think the worst thing about that tractor is it didn't have an FEL. You'll find hundreds of uses for an FEL if you get one.

Good luck in your search. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Jinman,

To the contrary, you are really helping me.
I'm a research buyer so that translates into
"careful" I guess. I'm also not afraid to turn a
wrench, it's just that I don't have that kind of
time. I'm sure it would have been a bargain
for someone with more time and tractor
knowledge.

I need a dependable low maintenance
tractor with some decent power and weight.
The Bota L3400 is looking better but I still
love the NH finance rates and they are
fine tractors as well. The Kioti CK30
is cool too, but I feel it's a tad
underpowered for it's weight although
it's feature packed. Darn it!!!

What to do?

Thanks again Jinman and all.

Since JD just started a 3 or 4 month 0% for 36 month program, I suspect Kubota will soon be doing something similar. Just keep shopping and don't feel hurried to buy right away. Heck, I've been trying to make up my mind for over a year now! I just don't want to spend the bucks and then wish I had jumped in a different direction. That and I'm not real sure what I want. It seems my main wish changes about every other week. It's fun just learning stuff here, too.
