I basically replaced the lever mechanism that went under the lift arm with a small piston. I'm sure a one way ram will work for the mower but make sure the valve on the tractor will.
I only mow pasture with mine so less plugging problems. Many times plugging at the end is caused by a gap between the section and guard. Either a worn hold down or the bar that the sections hitch to is bent up at the last section. I also adjust my sway bars (and brake away) so the end away from the tractor is slightly ahead of the tractor side.
