Question about 54\" Blade

Can someone tell me how effective the 54" blade on an X585 will be at "digging" into the ground? I know it is not a loader, but can I start digging a hole using the blade. Or better yet, the blade with a superior scoop attached.

Does anyone know how the Superior Scoop rates against the JB Sr.?

Thanks
John

John,

I have read several times a toothbar is your best bet for digging in hard soil.

Re: Question about 54\" Blade

Dont think I'd expect to do much digging with my 54" blade. Moving around loose soil works ok.

In combination with a rear tiller, probably can till the dirt, and move it with the blade.

Re: Question about 54\" Blade

a couple weeks ago i was using mine on my
445 in the driveway. the top of the driveway
had gotten a little soft and muddy in the rain,
so i used the blade to scrape off the soft stuff
and get down to the harder gravel and stone
base, and it worked surprisingly well. I also used it to
level out some areas going up the road where water
washed down and washed some of the driveway out,
it worked great there also.. although you can't expect
to just drop the blade into the ground and push 3" of
dirt. if you have some time, it may work ok.
my next project, is on the upper back yard i want to try
to loosen the dirt and push out some small cedar trees and brush, including some berry bushes in an area i want to
turn into lawn. we are very dry here though, for spring, and
the ground is quite hard already.. could be a long dry summer if this keeps up..
