Quick Hitch kit for Frontier or Woods Finish Mower

Well LHS inc, I have the woods Rd7200 and use the imatch. I made three ways to use the quick hitch. The best way was to attach two chains from the lower links to the upper top link (to float the bottom but also keep the floating top link in the upper hook of the imatch), I can get pictures later. And I used chains to replace the support bars on the mower (from back to top) but went back to the bars. And used a chain to replace my top link. The picture below is my chain top link

Thanks Catdozer. There's some problem with posting pics on TBN. Roy had the same problem. It will be interesting to see your set-up.

Hopefully they load. It was in the back barn where light is not that good.
All I had to do was to drill out a 3/8 hole and bolt the chain on with a 5/16 bolt. Quite simply I think

Let's see if I can post a picture now...Fromtier Mower.jpg

Well, it worked this time...
Anyway, you can see how much stiffening is on the deck.

I bought the same kit from woods for the quick hitch, but it would not allow it to float enough to get on a trailer. when mowing in dips and curves the mower would follow the tractor and not let the mower dip into the hole. This is where I like the chains so its not rigid.

Depends on how long you lengthen the top link...also, how abrupt the ground changes (dips and rises) are. I've got one area that's quite steep (close to 35-40 degrees). I back down and I'll see the aft wheels off the ground occasionally.
Nothing wrong with using a chain in lieu of a rigid toplink, but I don't think it would work well with a QH. However, it would do fine with the Pat's Easy Change system.

I have the same unit with the iMatch kit and it works beautifully. My procedure, when attaching the mower, is to back up to the mower so the lower iMatch hooks hit the pins, then get off, go to the right side of the machine. Hold the mower A frame vertically with my left hand while operating the rockshaft lever with my right hand to raise the hitch to contact all three pins.

Once I realized that I had to do it that way (rather than just back up and grab the implement in the usual way) it became easy.

I have been extremely happy with this mower and have found no issues with the chains replacing the solid A frame arms.100_0206.jpg

I agree, there is NO risk to the deck for the chains.
when I did mine, I did it slightly different than pictured. On mine with the IMatch and trade kit, I took off the original mower's green mast pieces/ 3rd link hardware off all together. and attached the chains straight to the black upper link arms from the kit.
the only purpose for the black bars is to make the hitch connectable to the Imatch, the Imatch itself bears all the load.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

All the pics are great, just what I needed to see.

Heading to the JD dealer first thing Monday morning to order my QH kit.

I'll post some pics in a week or two.

Thanks again!

I couldn't help myself and look at the pics again and I noticed you guys have the chain gaurds on the back. How do you like them? Do you get a good distribution of the grass clippings?

I don't have them on mine. I can see where they would scatter some clumps but on the other hand they might roll the clippings up too. Just my observation without trying anything yet.

You guys have them so they must be alright.

Your thoughts please, Thanks.
