Repair Common Kioti Mechanical Injection Pump Failure

Pump wouldn't bleed and I found that if I loosened the 4 inj pump securing studs and nuts it would bleed. When I tighten the pump it jams the Rack lever. Loosen it a turn or so and everything works. I made an extra gasket but it didn't help. I thought the rack pin may have been bottoming out but it is nowhere near doing that. Can't work out why it locks the rack and stop levers up when I tighten the bolts fully.
Anyway I am getting real good at pulling the pump in and out now.

How have you been feeling? I recall you were laid up, I hope things for you are improving.

Has anyone been into the pump.?
Has the pump been removed and the SHIMS on the bottom of the pump thrown away.??
Is this yours or a new purchase.??
There should be a couple of shims on the bottom of the pump..

You are right, I remember the shims. I wonder if he didn’t use them? That sounds like it could be the problem?

There was a gasket and 1 x steel shim that I cleaned and refitted. I even made an extra gasket hoping that would fix it, but, no.

I have had this tractor since new in 2006. I removed the pump to check the rack pinion gears for wear as in previous posts. (I am (was) an A Grade Mechanic)
The pump locates on two pins so it can't be out of alignment.
If I loosen the pump it works and pumps fuel out to the injector lines.
Problem is the last turn ot the nuts to tighten the pump just jams those levers. I cant see anything that would cause that. The only part of the pump that comes in contact with the levers is the rack pin and it is quite free in the slot. Mystery. I just gotta keep trying.

Just gotta keep going. Paddocks will need mowed soon as the grass is beginning to grow again.

So u took the bottom of the pump apart.??
Not being a punk, did u have any parts left over.??
Did u replace any parts.??
What u can do to see if it’s the pump is…
Remove the pump..
Chuck it up by the flange, in a vise.. rollers UP..
Now using a screwdriver, push the roller, 1 at a time DOWN.. with the roller depressed, see if the pumps control rack will slide back and forth..
THAT might narrow it down to a cylinder ..
BTW.. did u have the top apart.?? Or just the bottom.?

Let’s forget about the pin for a moment..
The rollers come in contact with the pump cam shaft and depress when u tighten up the pump flange..
Hence the reason I’m asking about what was done to the bottom/top of inj pump..
