The rear discharge skirt on the Woods is a better design than JD X13 series, for AG purposes {not OSHA}, removing/opening the Woods rear deflector allows a better dispersion of debris...

Remember these are light duty units designed to cut intermittently up to 1" and should last quite awhile if used as their intended purpose and if not abused as in the above JD513 picture I had previously posted...

Every manufacturer has a range of products that are good and so so to poop poo... {nobody is excluded!} and some manufacturers are known for certain great products that stand head and shoulders above the rest...

But somethings are relative in perspective like a Kubota 3010 owner may not consider a great Rhino GR72 rotary cutter, but may consider a great Woods BrushBull 720 ...

For example it would be unfair to compare a Rhino SE6 light duty rotary cutter against a Woods 720 medium duty cutter... however a Rhino TW72 would be on more equal footing...

I agree that your Rhino 15' batwing is a beautiful product... but so is a Befco 15' batwing as well as a Woods 15' batwing mower...

In comparing "class against class", the implement products are becoming more and more homogenized just as the compact tractor market is becoming... /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

My father's business mows 400-600 acres PER DAY down in Florida. He has tried most of the mowers out there. Even Bush Hog gave him a mower to use for a season to get his feedback on what they should improve on.

I'm sorry if I offend the Woods believers, but of all of all the mowers he has used, Woods is by far the worst. He was constantly having to repair the darn things. Even the wheels would fall off for Pete's sake!

His company now ONLY mows with the Rhino 15' and 20' flex-wings (Heavy Duty)

I am sure that for the average Joe out there any mower would work fine. I am just giving my 2 cents to those that may want to know how some mowers stack up when fully exercised.

Oh, for those wondering -- the tractors he uses are John Deere 7210's

I recenty bought a Woods Brushbull 48" light duty cutter.

I do not have much experience with the different brands and prior to buying the Woods used an old 60" unit that has seen a lot of abuse. I couldn't even begin to compare the two.

For my use, I will be keeping small brush, multiflora rose, and various weeds in check. I cleared about a half an acre in about 45 minutes a couple of weekends back and it performed very well. Hit a couple of covered rocks and left-over small logs. Made a lot of noise and well, keep on going.

I mowed down a 150' x 25' grassy area (about 6" high) and the windrow was dispersed evenly. I was quite pleased with the results.

For occasional home/small estate use, I would recommend it. For commercial, well that's a different story.....
