Rust on tools

Was told long ago to keep a chalk line (the kind that holds powdered chalk inside) & a powder chalk refill in the tool box. Never had rust on tools in the box.

I've heard a couple times to leave a bunch of loose pennies in the drawers. Can't say it makes sense, but a couple people I know swear by it...

What about buying/using a dehumidifier?

I bought a bag of lump camphor crystals and some plastic film cans.

Drill/punch several holes in the cans. Put a good-sized lump of camphor in the can and cap it. One can in each drawer.

I get a lot of HUGE temperature swings in my garage and therefore a lot of condensation. No rust on any of my tools as long as I keep the camphor cans replenished.

I like the smell too, others may not.

In a garage, as soon as you open the overhead door, you're exchanging most of the air and back to square one with humidity.
If the person leaves the door open, then everything is sweating.
