Which model sleeve hitch from sears did you use? I am looking for my toro lx 500 which also has 20" rear wheels.. Have you had any problems with the sears model since this post? Thanks for any reply.

Gents - you do realize that the LTX 1050 is NOT a garden tractor (ground-engaging)..?

Yes, indeedie. Refer to my earlier explanation in this thread as to why I got a sleeve hitch for this tractor.

my bad for not looking at Pp 1 - sorry. But... the weak spot will be yer tranny (both of you if you hook up a 2 wheel cart, load it with a fair amount of weight and then proceed to drive up a mild incline) - those LT's - both made by MTD - have a light duty hydro tranny designed just to have enuff moxie to push tractor/mower around over a relatively level yard for X yrs. Put 'em on hilly ground pulling an aerator or roller or weighted down cart and that "x" factor is gonna shrink significantly, if not damatically. Just a heads up - it just ain't about traction.

I have a 2011 Cub Cadet GT2100 and I just installed the "Johnny Products Universal Sleeve Hitch" and I am beyond pleased with it! It certainly is not the least expensive option out there but it is built with heavy gauge lazer cut plate steel and has a 500lb dynamic, 2250lb static load electronic actuator. I use it with my brinly cultivator and box blade, the down force for the box blade is almost essential for effectiveness. See photos of the install and set up.
I moved quote a bit of dirt with it for my latest landscape project, I would break the soil up with the cultivator then switch to the box blade to move the loose dirt. I repeated the process many times and created terraces and berms on the hill in my back yard.
Now, as others mentioned if your machine is not rated for use with ground engaging equipment and you attempt this you may fry your tranny among other things.
But if you use your equipment within the designed parameters the sleeve hitch will be quite useful, again, the electronic actuator is worth the extra money.
