I bought this DJ-5 about two months ago. It is left hand drive, so I do not know if it belonged to USPS. But it sure is fun to drive!!!!! It is a 72 model with a 77 Ford 302 and Ford FMX 3 spd automatic. But it also has a Chevy component in it.

Gotta love a small block V-8 in a small package!!!
Points and condenser ignition, just installed the new coil that does not require external resisitor.

One more of the Chevy alternator, yes it is fresh from O'Really's. The previous owner had put in a new battery and connected it backward and fried the voltage regulator in the previous one.

You'd really enjoy looking under the hood of the old Wagoneers. AMC was only too glad to represent EVERYBODY in their parts bins, with Ford Dodge and GM stuff all over...

Yup, DJs (like many other models) came both LH and RH drive... Looks nice

Cool! But I'm doubting it had a Ford small block in it originally. Fits nice though - its smaller than an AMC V8.

Nice looking Jeep, probably was a postal vehicle at one time.

All the ones I have seen are 2WD.

Oh, judging by the way the cross member was hacked out with a torch to accomadate the oil pan, I am pretty sure it is not the original engine. I do beleive it is a 77 model 302 from a pickup, since the oil sump is at the front of the pan.
