For everyone's information WIX has a reference site that is the best I have seen so far for identifying oil filters that not only fit, but are proper for the specific engine/application listed and Ventrac machines are listed. Let me see if I can provide a link:

I believe that is a site you should save to your favorites. I notice they do not have my hydraulic filters, yet.

Thinking back -- I'm not sure if the CARQUEST filters are made by Mann or Wix -- either brand is well made in USA. I'm sure my engine is fine and did not loose much oil. I had around 900 hours on my first 4231 Gas with no problems and now around 600 hours on this 4231 Gas I use Amsoil and quality filters - depending on how hard I have used the tractor - I change oil every 50 to 100 hours - cheap insurance. I hope this isn't hijacking this thread. It's all about oil changes.
