new oil from the mill is completely different than draining from a vehicle that has heavy metals and other stuff in it.. :)

I really think that unless you use it within a year or so, it will rust anyway.

Yes it will rust. I had a finished project that I didn't get around to painting. It is stored under an overhang shed roof but still rusted within a few months.

A light surface rust will frequently reduce or prevent subsequent rust.
I think I'd leave it bare and keep an eye on it

either way I am going to let it sit at work (in a factory) as long as I can until he gets real insistent about getting it out.

If it was me, I wouldn't let it set at work. I would take it all home Monday before someone beets me to it or the boss changes his mind.

Yep, and when you get the steel, you can store the tubing at my shop if you want:D.. Um I might use a piece from time to time as a "storage fee"
